Sin City Reboot

Been working on setting up this new portal for Sin City Delights, working hard on finding the best avenue to sell their amazing product line. The last version was a step forward, but this one is the icing on the cake and can only get better.

Sin City Delights

There might be some tweaks here and there, but I think we finally hit our groove. We launched the original version back in December/11 and it started doing more business than the old version did all year.

Unfortunately a problematic Paypal, with it’s often impossible to reason customer service, put up a barrier for business on the site. We moved on to Amazon Payments with an adjusted version of the site that brought on yet another surge of business (above).

This has been a living experiment and while the goal has been to sell product on this site, it has also been a test to find the most hospitable environment and strongest platform for product sales. This new POS system will use Authorize.Net. We peeled away from Amazon only because it was requiring buyers to have an Amazon account.

The new version of the site will launch next week and will hopefully really bring a lot of momentum to sales.

“Issues on the Table”

The latest piece is taking shape and needs it’s final direction. I believe this piece will look good mounted on the wall as well as sitting on a floor.

It is life size and the base will have a flat, black veneer while the overall piece will be gold with heavy black shadowing. The sketch above is just a point of view and will stand about 2 feet off the ground from top to bottom.

While the message or the way it is delivered has shifted the basic elements have remained the same. The goal is to keep it clean and not contrived.

Sin City Delights

Less than a year ago I contracted with this freelance client to build their first step into online internet retail sales.

Updated Site Design / Shopping Cart

This is the latest version. I had to build a new shopping cart system quickly. The Paypal cart that was was installed fell out; Paypal has been unreliable. However, this elected to go with Amazon Payments which turned out to be much better.

Not to waste your time on the interim design. The original design is something to see and I welcome any thoughts.

I also manage this client’s social media; mostly Facebook and Twitter. There is a Yelp and a few other channels I post in for them.

Back to Business

Although a majority of my sites lately have been in WordPress, it was a treat to take on a recent contract position through Robert Half Technology to work with a great Vegas company my last two weeks there.  The reason I want to show this work on this particular site is that I was given a Photoshop template and had to dice it up and make it fit the flavor the company was re-branding toward.

Purchased template with layersThis was one of a few web sites they had me there to assist with, but this one needed to be built from scratch.

The template for this web development company was bright and colorful compared to their existing web strategy and also needed an updated logo matching the new color scheme.

My job was to make that work and then transfer all their copy over to it almost exactly with a lot of general edits.

Using Photoshop to slice this up minus the redundant elements of the graphic, or items that could be created through CSS or HTML, I had everything I need to make this in the image of the executives for the company.

eTech Productions new site

With a little help from a photostock site, this is what I proposed to the management and they liked a lot.

I enjoyed working there and I do not want to take anything away from what this company offers for their design aesthetic. I worked with their principle designer closely and was graciously given some licence to prove my skills.

New Costume Design

SteampunkMy goals are these, try and live the rest of my life in the most positive and loving light that I can. Within that, be able to create and do wonderful things from this creative twisted mind.

I was inspired by the costumes I saw at the Lion King a couple weeks ago and came up with a design I wanted to do with this great fabric I had. Thanks to Perry and Alex from Alex Rivas Upholstery, this fabric was donated before their business burned last summer, I got hold of this great fabric.

Steampunk 1

As the piece developed it took shape. I was designed to be a mixture of masculine and feminine. The Steampunk theme to it comes from an admiration of this great Edwardian/Victorian mix with futuristic eccentricity.

Meanwhile, I march on with other ideas for costumes, but time will tell when I can get all this finished. This is on my web site only because I want to show how diverse I am in creativity. Hopefully it will lead to something really cool.

Final Passage update

Updated information posted here on this web site as well as the Indiegogo.Com site where I am perpetuating my attempt at funding.

Tree of Life meet the River StyxThe budget cam to 10K to get this project wrapped up to 100% completion and transported. I am thinking about a trial run at Element -11 which is like a mini Burning Man event out of Salt Lake City. It’s another expense, but it might be a fun preview unless I keep the preview local with First Friday.

Anyway, the updated renderings are linked and shared everywhere including the video on IndieGoGo. Now to work on the other grants and write a press release for Final Passage.

Final Passage update

Looks like I brought on a couple of new partners in the future success of this project and am hoping to find one more very accomplished person on Saturday. These people are craftsman who have solid reputations in their fields and have the foundation to help me make this happen.

It is my hope that following Burning Man 2011 that by working with BRAF (Black Rock Arts Foundation) and Nevada Arts that I can place this in the city where it can continue to live on for public interaction.

Very exciting.

Grant Process

Over the last few weeks a big part of my energy has been working on a Grant or two to make this large project come to life. “Final Passage” is only one of three projects I want moving in the pipeline for 2011.

The fund raising campaign is already underway with my first donation received. I have big dreams about making this happen, but I do not want to wait til the 11th hour for this project.

What does this have to do with web design? Well, nothing. This web site is my portfolio site which includes all the kinds of art and work that I do. I have a lot of skills and experience to bring to the table.

Final Passage is the largest and most beautiful project I have decided to undertake and am really excited about making it happen.

Art Installations

What is wrong with me? Oh, too much of an open ended questions there… how is this? What is up with my new passion for art installations.

Not satisfied to something simply sitting on a page or a digital screen, now I am coming up with ideas that require space – volume - transportation. It’s just wrong.

The projects listed in the Art Installations page are all inspired from my recent trip to Burning Man and having interacted with some AWESOME work. I want to make people understand how this finally loosened something inside of me.

I was stuck. I am going to ride this creative wave and see where it takes me.

Art Project Update – Styling

Spent the better part of the day putting the final touches on this bad girl and then gave her a spanking. Could not get it into my apartment, so it is waiting in the back of my car until it can be transferred to the van. Lordie I hope this one does not get stolen.
