Issues on the Table – 2012
It is life size and the base will have a flat, black veneer while the overall piece will be gold with heavy black shadowing. The sketch above is just a point of view and will stand about 2 feet off the ground from top to bottom.
It can be displayed either on the ground standing less than 2 feet off the ground or so it can be suspended on a wall with heavy hooks. The father’s chair is the base, or would hang closest to the floor.

The contextual part of this project with the texture on the table-top is the feature of the piece. There is a shock-wave emanating from the father’s position at the table with reactions like a tsunami; it is about parental verbal abuse and the repercussions on the child who became the adult. It’s not about the chain of abuse, it’s a snapshot of what passed in a single generation.

While the message or the way it is delivered has shifted the basic elements have remained the same. The goal is to keep it clean and not contrived.
